Magical Mouse Schoolhouse

Time to shake off the “Return from Disney” Blues compounded by more than my usual share of family stress and get back on that coaster!!  IT’S BLOG TIME, BABY!

My 10-day trip to Walt Disney World from August 19-28 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge was fantabulous 🙂  The definition of FANTABULOUS:  fantastic and fabulous.  This was The MouseEars Family’s eighth (my ninth) and longest trip to date.  Every minute was wonderful.  Though we definitely had a couple of minor moments that in hindsight, I’d do a bit different.  But I know I’ll be able to fix that stuff on the next trip!

One of the things we played with this time was staying in the Hyatt Regency inside MCO in order to take advantage of low pricing on flights in and out of Orlando.  Now, originally we intended to drive.  Then, rockbottom pricing on Southwest Airlines got us to thinking that flying was the better option.  I also scored two free nights at the Hyatt via our bank rewards.  The Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport is an amazing hotel that is clearly there to serve travelers heading in and traveling out of the Orlando area.  It is  located in the center of the main terminal.  It is a beautiful, modern hotel.  Staff were extremely accomodating, our hotel rooms were spotless and the food was excellent.  Upon arrival, we were greeted by bell services and check-in was seamless.  The reason we stayed the night before our Disney reservation was so we didn’t “waste” an entire day at Disney with our late arrival and pay much more for our room to boot.  However, in the end…this was not something we would do again.  Saving the room money was not worth sacrificing the excitement upon arrival and heading straight to the Magical Express.  Of course, the next morning we were very excited…but it was missing a tiny something special.  Also, between dinner and shopping in the airport, we didn’t save much money at all.  In fact, we probably spent more!!  Oy vey.

A “crack of dawn” departure out of MCO with a night before stay at the Hyatt at the end of our trip was a dream come true!  We had a full Disney day then hopped on the Magical Express with no stress about our departure.  We were lucky enough to be dropped off at the motor court of the hotel and greeted again, by amazing bell services.  Check in was a breeze.  Then, the next morning we rolled out of bed at a human hour and bell services escorted us to the airline check-in desk helping bypass the lines with some terrific tips.  It was sheer perfection!

Here’s a couple of shots from the hotel:

Looks like a great hotel…even though the magic was missing. On my last WDW visit, we started out trip with a couple days at a non-Disney resort too. The Lake Buena Vista Palace & Spa is very nice…and directly across the street for Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa…but just not magical. So I totally know what you’re talking about.

I’ll be watching for further reports, photos and fun stuff. Glad you’re back.

    • It is a beautiful hotel…but it’s tough being a Disney addict…lol 🙂 There are so many terrific off-property resorts and the prices are always soooo tempting, too! We had a great trip, I’ve got loads to share. I missed you guys!!
